What do I need to open a bank account in Korea?
Question · koinfo ops
Which documents do banks ask for when a foreigner opens an account?

Usually your passport and Alien Registration Card, plus a Korean phone number for mobile banking. Some branches also ask for proof of work or study (employment contract, enrollment certificate). A new account is often a 'limited account' with low transfer and ATM limits until you submit those documents. Requirements differ by bank, so ask the branch before you go.
